Tolwyn and Dupuytren’s Contracture

Updates are added to this post. Use the Continue Reading link.

As some of you may know, I've been afflicted with Dupuytren's Contracture for about 3 years now. This disease progressed to the point where I could no longer enjoy playing the piano and other day-to-day activities. I had the surgery on December 15, 2011 and on December 20th they removed the bandages and fitted me for a splint. You can follow my progress on my Facebook Album.

Doom Turns 18

From Doomworld's Cacowards,

Doom is 18 years old. I guess it's significant, because if Doom were a person it could vote, smoke, and drink in some countries. Doom is an adult now.

I first saw Doom in its original shareware release weeks after I came home from college in the office of my High School band director, Ray  Dietz. id Software created a masterpiece.

Tolwyn’s Roland D-50 Synthesizer For Sale

I got this keyboard in 1987. It is in like-new condition and in all my research on eBay, Sweetwater, and elsewhere (considering the condition it's in) it is worth it's weight in gold (well, you know).

Read about the Roland D-50 on Wikipedia.

It's been used in a smoke-free recording studio (and also the keyboard used in the recording of Pointed Sticks: All Quiet on the Western Front.
No spills, no crashes, no tips, well-cleaned, all faders work fine, and this includes 4 "Memory" cards (3 factory and 1 3rd party).

For the past 10 years, it's been covered and used as a triggered sound module. Includes cables, manual, memory expansion cards, HARD case, and "Cover your Axe" cover.

$800 shipped to anywhere in the United States.
This price includes the much soft-after ROM cards (4 included), hard-case, etc.

KPQ 560 and 10 Years of Gaming

It's been precisely 10 years since PCGS has had such an audience with a regional radio station. This interview took place exactly ten years ago. Please enjoy the wonderfulness of how local area network gaming used to play such a huge part in gaming lore before the X-Box, Wii, Playstation, and every other platform at the time.

Alexis Lunch Stories

My daughter is almost 10 years old. She's downstairs right now making her lunch for tomorrow. This is a full-contact sport as she continually wants me to participate. I don't mind this interaction, but by its very nature it's something you have to put aside all time for.

For example. Chopsticks are made from bamboo. Tomato goop is okay on sandwiches as long as there isn't too much of it. Bacon bits can be substituted for actual bacon, and (most importantly) jalapeno Cheetos go really good when placed upon a tuna-fish sandwich. It's a crunchy wonderful challenging taste cornucopia for the pre-teen taste palette.

The Dock

A father stands upon an old, wooden dock on an ice-cold lake.
On the shore sits his baby daughter; her back to him.
There is a fire there, keeping her warm.

After a time, he sees that the fire is dying.
The father reaches down and pries a piece of the dock away and throws it upon the fire.
The baby is warm and comforted.

Time passes.

A father stands upon an old, wooden dock.
On the shore, a toddler plays with dolls and blocks.

After a time, the toddler shivers.
The father reaches down and pries a piece of the dock away and throws it upon the fire.
The toddler is warm and content.

More time passes.

A father stands upon an old, wooden dock.
On the shore, a teenagers speaks on the phone.

After a time, a young boy's arms wrap around the teenager, trying to keep her warm.
The father reaches down and pries a piece of the dock away and throws it upon the fire.
The teenagers cuddle close to the fire and are warmed by it.

More time passes.

A father stands upon a plank of wood.
On the shore, a young woman is preparing to leave for a life of her own.

After a time, she sits in front of the dying fire and rubs her hands together.
Suddenly, the fire comes alive and in the distance, she hears a splash.
Walking to the shore, ripples approach her feet, but there is nothing on the water.

She turns back toward the fire and wonders what she missed all these years.
